We are looking for an experienced Vehicle Director who will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of drive-by-wire (DBW) hardware systems for our autonomous vehicles. In this role, you will lead a team of vehicle hardware engineers and collaborate closely with other departments to ensure the successful integration of hardware components into our autonomous vehicle platform.

Role responsibilities

  • Drive-by-Wire Hardware Development: Oversee the design, development, and testing of DBW hardware components, including steering, braking, and throttle systems.

  • Vendor Management: Identify and manage relationships with external suppliers and vendors for hardware components. Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate contracts.

  • Integration: Collaborate with software, systems, and vehicle integration teams to ensure seamless integration of DBW hardware into the autonomous vehicle platform.

  • Quality Assurance: Establish and implement quality control processes to ensure the reliability and safety of DBW hardware systems.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to vehicle hardware, ensuring compliance in all aspects of DBW hardware development.

  • Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for DBW hardware projects, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.

  • Testing and Validation: Oversee the testing and validation processes for DBW hardware, working closely with testing and Ops. teams to ensure reliability and performance.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the DBW hardware development process, optimizing efficiency and reducing lead times.

  • Team Development: Mentor and develop team members, fostering their growth and skills development.

     

Required experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • Proven experience (10+ years) in leading vehicle hardware development teams, particularly in drive-by-wire systems.

  • Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics, control systems, and automotive hardware.

  • Experience with regulatory compliance and safety standards in the automotive industry.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
